Two dedicated cold chain Hino 300 trucks have recently been acquired in the form of a donation from UPU Post4Health. These trucks are fully refrigerated and are thus ideal for transportation of all frozen goods ranging from meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables. These specialised cold chain trucks enable NamPost to transport cold chain products over extended and long distances at temperatures below -20 degrees.
Apart from the specialised cold chain trucks, all our line-haul trucks have insulated bodies. Hence, all vaccines and special products can be transported under temperatures not exceeding 25 Centigrade. Furthermore, specialist items that require transportation between 2 Centigrade and 8 Centigrade, will be delivered safely, when packed according to the required standards in a cool box. Courier through its Same-day Express Delivery service is also able to deliver temperature controlled and essential products on the day of dispatch. Speed of delivery will be determined by distance and location of end destination.
All our line-haul vehicles have insulated bodies offering high standard of security and safety during transport. Where necessary, each consignment is palletized and wrapped to ensure secure delivery at end destination. Each consignment collected is placed on a unique waybill number that also serves as the customers tracking number. A hand-to-hand standard operating procedure is followed, which is checked by a supervisor from collection to end delivery.
All vehicles will be sealed upon loading and resealed after offloading. Seal numbers are recorded and checked by supervisors. There are two drivers on every long-haul vehicle to combat driver fatigue and the risk of accidents. All vehicles are under constant surveillance. A 24-hour control room monitors vehicle speed, driving routes and number of stops. Vehicles are fitted with reflective strips and reflective signage to increase visibility when traveling at night. Our control room is in constant contact with all vehicles via a built-in vehicle communications system. Meanwhile, each truck is equipped with CCTV cameras offering additional cargo security and monitoring. Parcels are sorted and packed in secure warehouses at various Post Offices before loading for dispatch.
NamPost Courier adopted the hand-to-hand handling of goods policy. Therefore, all sensitive and valuable consignments are regarded as valuable shipments and is listed on a separate manifest. Such manifest is signed-off by each individual during the hand over process until the shipment has been delivered to the recipient.
At NamPost, each mail item and parcel are regarded as a valuable item. NamPost Courier’s quality control team is led by its Head: Mail & Logistics, who is in constant contact with our fleet control office. The quality control team is tasked with speedily attending to any unforeseen incident that may delay or influence successful delivery of our freight. In the event of a delay, our customer service centre is contacted to notify all affected customers immediately, with frequent follow-ups on the expected delivery time. In addition, as soon as the delivery is secured, a Proof of Delivery (POD) is forward to the customer to ensure peace of mind. To find out what customers think about our service, we conduct a biannual national customer satisfaction survey, from where lessons are learned, and best practices shared to improve our service levels as required. We work towards ensuring that every member of our staff shares in the responsibility of quality control.
